About the Platform

The E-Mobility Support and Investment Platform for Asia and the Pacific is a knowledge hub on electric mobility that aims to support the just transition towards low-carbon transport systems in the Asia and the Pacific region. This platform is managed by the Asian Development Bank.

This initiative forms part of the Global Environment Facility-funded Global Project to Support Countries with the Shift to Electric Mobility, which is managed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The E-Mobility Support and Investment Platform for Asia and the Pacific promotes knowledge sharing across countries in the region, supports e-mobility project development and implementation, and identifies opportunities for scale-up of e-mobility policies and financing.

This platform aims to benefit governments and organizations in their work to scale up the use of e-mobility in Asia and the Pacific. It supports a just transition to e-mobility by promoting knowledge sharing, peer-to-peer exchange, and building technical expertise for policy development and scaling up of financing for e-mobility. Members of the e-mobility platform’s community include representatives from the public sector, international and expert organizations, academia, as well as the private sector. 

The main activities of the platform include capacity building through knowledge exchange and specialized training, creating a network among practitioners in the field of e-mobility for promoting peer-to-peer learning, provide a space for dialogue on e-mobility topics, as well as support policy and investment pipeline development to scale up financing for e-mobility deployment.

This platform mainly covers road transport (two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, electric buses, and electric freight vehicles). It also covers, to a certain extent, inland waterways and maritime vessels.
